Harmonic Transponder Sensor based on Independent Impedance Control for Motion Sensing

This paper presents the design and demonstration of a novel harmonic transponder sensor (HTS) that can measure position motion target in noisy reflective indoor environments. In conventional HTS implementation, an impedance mismatch at input or output occur because variation antenna caused by location surrounding environment. The (or output) also affects input), thereby degrading conversion gain (CG) HTS. An independent control matching network (IICMN) is proposed to deal with impedances separately, regardless source load changes. IICMN has high CG wide power frequency ranges. was implemented size 44.3 mm × 29.4 mm, experiment conducted demonstrate its CG. It achieved peak -14.3 dB 3.1 GHz. measured remained above -20 within range -25–-5 dBm GHz 3.05–3.2 -13.7 dBm. nonlinear responses dual-band were observed based on distance power. measurement results showed second signal could be detected 2.3 m equivalent isotropic radiated 31 feasibility antenna-integrated estimating spinal cord nerve injuries demonstrated using knee-jerk reflex test. When between transmitter’s 0.5 transmitted effective isotopically 28.8 dBm, received from -80.8 -59.7 according leg movement.
