Hepatocellular Carcinomas: Towards a pathomolecular approach
نویسندگان
چکیده
Molecular analysis of primary liver malignancies has provided a refinement the pathological diagnosis this entity and identification an increasing number tumor subtypes hepatocellular proliferation, either malignant (hepatocellular carcinomas) or benign adenomas). Besides diagnosis, combined pathomolecular approach can also provide further insights into patient prognosis, help select patients who benefit from targeted therapies. Hepatocellular carcinomas define heterogeneous group proliferation at various levels: macroscopic, histological molecular. While most occur in with chronic diseases advanced fibrosis background liver, some arise transformation pre-existing adenoma. TERT promoter mutations are frequent genomic alterations observed process malignancy, they early carcinogenesis. Overall, more active biopsy strategy should be considered key step management HCC.

Combined hepatocellular and cholangiocarcinoma originating from the same clone: a pathomolecular evidence-based study
BACKGROUND Combined hepatocellular and cholangiocarcinoma (CHC) is a unique subtype of liver cancer comprising both hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC); however, its cellular origin remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinicopathologic features and the clonal relationship between HCC and ICC in 34 patients with CHC. METHODS Th...
متن کاملBenign hepatocellular tumors: Problem diagnoses and applications of new pathomolecular classifications
Introduction Benign hepatocellular tumors gather 2 separate groups of lesions according to their pathogenesis. Such classification has been successfully achieved owing to molecular studies, especially assessing their biological behaviour. Therefore, one distinguishes polyclonal disorders that concern regenerative non-neoplastic processes, such as focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH), and monoclonal ...
متن کاملQuantitative TP73 transcript analysis in hepatocellular carcinomas.
PURPOSE The p53 family member p73 displays significant homology to p53, but data from primary tumors demonstrating increased expression levels of p73 in the absence of any gene mutations argue against a classical tumor suppressor function. A detailed analysis of the p73 protein in tumor tissues has revealed expression of two classes of p73 isoforms. Whereas the proapoptotic, full-length, transa...
متن کاملSequential analysis of transplantable hepatocellular carcinomas.
In a previous study multiple characteristics of chemically induced primary hepatocellular carcinomas were described and examined during the initial transplant generations. The present communication reports on these characteristics in subsequent transplant generations followed over a 2-year period. In almost all instances the growth rate, morphology, chromosome composition, and plasma protein an...

BACKGROUND Overexpression of regulatory peptide receptors in selected human tumours is of diagnostic and therapeutic relevance. AIMS To evaluate the expression of somatostatin, vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), substance P, cholecystokinin (CCK) A and B, and neurotensin receptors in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). METHODS In vitro receptor autoradiography for the various peptide receptor...
