High Methane Emission From Palm Stems and Nitrous Oxide Emission From the Soil in a Peruvian Amazon Peat Swamp Forest

چکیده
Tree stems in tropical peat swamp forests are known as considerable methane (CH 4 ) emitters; however, little is about their carbon dioxide (CO 2 and nitrous oxide (N O) exchange. Differences between species, especially the role of palm exchange greenhouse gasses, have remained largely unknown. We measured stem CO , CH N O fluxes from different heights widely spread aguaje palms ( Mauritia flexuosa boarwoods Symphonia globulifera soil beneath same trees a Peruvian Amazon using static closed chamber technique September 2019 to March 2020. The tree were net emitters but occasionally showed low uptake. found highest emissions (average ± SE) height 80 cm (1,601 165.9 μg C m –2 h –1 ), which more than 300 times greater compared boarwood stems, at 30 (5.12 1.27 ). average flux was 3,618 465 . Whereas negligible, soils relatively high, ranging 53.75 24.04 (close trees) 143.4 68.43 palms) While roughly upscaling tree-level stand level 27,732 km Pastaza-Marañon foreland basin, these annual (897 Gg y 24 respectively). These results highlight necessity study this kind ecosystem intensely.

Micromonospora humi sp. nov., isolated from peat swamp forest soil.
A novel actinomycete, strain P0402(T), was isolated from peat swamp forest soil collected in Thailand. Its taxonomic position was determined by using a polyphasic taxonomic approach. The chemotaxonomic characteristics of this strain matched those of the genus Micromonospora, i.e. the presence of meso-diaminopimelic acid and N-glycolyl muramic acid in the peptidoglycan, whole-cell sugar pattern ...
متن کاملAmmonia, methane, and nitrous oxide emission from pig slurry applied to a pasture in New Zealand.
Much animal manure is being applied to small land areas close to animal confinements, resulting in environmental degradation. This paper reports a study on the emissions of ammonia (NH3), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O) from a pasture during a 90-d period after pig slurry application (60 m3 ha-1) to the soil surface. The pig slurry contained 6.1 kg total N m-3, 4.2 kg of total ammoniacal...

متن کاملLeaf size indices and structure of the peat swamp forest
Leaf size indices of the tree species in the peatland of Agusan del Sur in Mindanao in Philippines was examined to deduce the variation of forest structure and observed forest zonation. Using raunkiaer and webb’s leaf size classification, the leaf morphometrics of seven tree species consistently found on the established sampling plots were determined. The species includes Ternstroemia phi...
متن کاملNitrous oxide emission from denitrification in stream and river networks.
Nitrous oxide (N(2)O) is a potent greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change and stratospheric ozone destruction. Anthropogenic nitrogen (N) loading to river networks is a potentially important source of N(2)O via microbial denitrification that converts N to N(2)O and dinitrogen (N(2)). The fraction of denitrified N that escapes as N(2)O rather than N(2) (i.e., the N(2)O yield) is an imp...
