High-Tech Augmentative and Alternative Communication Devices: Observing Children’s Need for Help and Interaction with Caregivers

There are many children with disabilities who need specialised devices to communicate and be understood, which poses an added challenge for their caregivers. This study aims diagnose the training needs of informal caregivers concerning high-tech augmentative alternative communication (AAC), enhance use these in home setting. The aim is children’s performance interaction caregivers, improve practices contribute reducing technology abandonment at home. Participant observation sessions were carried out three settings describe between as well assess former’s assistance using Grid3 software when combined eye-gaze-controlled technology. findings seem demonstrate importance interactions carrying tasks improving performance. Therefore, it can inferred that positive reinforcement important foster motivation overcome difficulties such devices, along corrective feedback. data suggest promote technology-mediated communicative all life contexts.
