Historical Transformations of the Higher Library Education System in Poland

The aim of the study is to determine features cognitive and organisational components’ formation Polish higher library information education model in main historical periods its development. article highlights history current status Poland’s system clarifies place within European university training professionals. research methodology based on heuristic frameworks systematic approaches, source comparative methods, content analysis bachelor’s master’s curricula Library Studies. scientific novelty prove common different systems Poland Ukraine, introduce results curriculum structure leading universities scientifically. It noted that Poland, before other post-Soviet countries, has successfully implemented all basic principles Bologna Process into educational practice. helped improve quality librarians’ their competitiveness labour market. Conclusions are made institutionalisation, with being influenced by various socio-cultural, geographical political factors. determined specifics Bachelor, Master Doctor Philosophy Degrees’ “Library Information Studies” speciality universities, profiles programmes been characterised. determines staff’s at academic levels gives characteristics key competencies students acquire during mastery.
