Abstract A circular economy is critical to addressing current unsustainable resource extraction, consumption and waste. Research has hitherto focused predominantly on the supply-side, particularly design, production business models. However, demand-side essential in realising benefits from upstream activities. While research emerging, a clear comprehensive picture of user behaviours required still lacking. To address this, adopted transdisciplinary integration approach, engaging over 100 Australian stakeholders public, private, civil sectors. The output was Framework User Circular Behaviours, containing 59 distinct behaviours, clearly labelled, categorised defined. organises according three phases product interaction (get, use, pass on), more specifically by their function economy. preliminary model inter-relationships between these up- downstream activities also produced. contributes existing consumer literature ways: it provides both greater breadth depth than models; clarifies when performance can be considered circular; includes precise definitions provide clarity enable consistency terminology. many benefits.
