Abstract Human records can assist us in understanding real descriptions and expected ideals of music. The present work examined how have music emotions been described millions Google books. In general, positive adjectives were more regularly used to describe than negative adjectives, demonstrating a positivity bias emotional depiction has shifted over time, including decrease the frequency English books past two centuries, sudden surge usage simplified Chinese during China’s Cultural Revolution. Negative substantially less employed books, reflecting cultural differences. Finally, comparison different corpora showed that emotion-related frequently fictional literature.
