An ecological correlate of critical flicker-fusion frequencies for some Anolis lizards.
The maximum critical flicker-fusion frequency (CFF) was determined for seven species of anoline lizards. The congeners showed a wide range of CFF values from 26 to 42. These values correlated with the general level of insolation in each species’ microhabitat. such that the brighter the habitat. the higher the CFF.

We investigated whether responses from different cone classes are combined before or after the nonlinearity that is responsible for generating nonlinear response components of the flicker electroretinogram (ERG). We measured the nonlinear response of the retina while systematically varying the modulation in the long-wavelength-sensitive and middle-wavelength-sensitive cones by changing the prop...
متن کاملFlicker adaptation desensitizes the magnocellular but not the parvocellular pathway.
PURPOSE Anatomical and physiological studies show that in primates, visual information is conveyed through two parallel pathways, including the magnocellular (MC-) and parvocellular (PC-) pathways. However, the functional separation between the two pathways remains controversial and challenging. To resolve this, we show a psychophysical approach to desensitize the inferred MC-pathway of human o...
متن کاملFlicker fusion in multiple sclerosis.
This paper is concerned with a study of thresholds of critical flicker fusion frequency (C.F.F.) of a light stimulus in patients suffering from multiple sclerosis. The capacity of normal human vision to appreciate the intermittency of rapidly repeated light stimuli is a function of great physiological interest, and it may be impaired by disease at many sites in the visual pathway. Thus Parsons ...
