Hyades Member K2-136c: The Smallest Planet in an Open Cluster with a Precisely Measured Mass

نویسندگان

چکیده

K2-136 is a late-K dwarf ($0.742\pm0.039$ M$_\odot$) in the Hyades open cluster with three known, transiting planets and an age of $650\pm70$ Myr. Analyzing K2 photometry, we found that K2-136b, c, d have periods $8.0$, $17.3$, $25.6$ days radii $1.014\pm0.050$ R$_\oplus$, $3.00\pm0.13$ $1.565\pm0.077$ respectively. We collected 93 radial velocity measurements (RVs) HARPS-N spectrograph (TNG) 22 RVs ESPRESSO (VLT). data jointly, K2-136c induced semi-amplitude $5.49\pm0.53$ m s$^{-1}$, corresponding to mass $18.1\pm1.9$ M$_\oplus$. also placed $95$% upper limits on K2-136b $4.3$ $3.0$ M$_\oplus$, Further, analyzed HST XMM-Newton observations establish planetary high-energy environment investigate possible atmospheric loss. now smallest planet measured one youngest ever measurement. has $\sim$75% radius Neptune but similar mass, yielding density $3.69^{+0.67}_{-0.56}$ g cm$^{-3}$ ($\sim$2-3 times denser than Neptune). Mass estimates for (and possibly d) may be feasible more RV observations, insights into all planets' atmospheres through transmission spectroscopy would challenging potentially fruitful. This research future young are critical investigating compositions characteristics small exoplanets at very early stages their lives providing how evolve time.

Stellar Nucleosynthesis in the Hyades Open Cluster

We report a comprehensive light element (Li, C, N, O, Na, Mg, and Al) abundance analysis of three solar-type main sequence (MS) dwarfs and three red giant branch (RGB) clump stars in the Hyades open cluster using highresolution and high signal-to-noise spectroscopy. The abundances have been derived in a self-consistent fashion, and for each group (MS or RGB), the CNO abundances are found to be ...

The exoplanet - host star iota Horologii : an evaporated member of the primordial Hyades cluster

Aims. We show that the exoplanet-host star iota Horologii, alias HD17051, which belongs to the so-called Hyades stream, was formed within the primordial Hyades stellar cluster and has evaporated towards its present location, 40 pc away. Methods. This result has been obtained unambiguously by studying the acoustic oscillations of this star, using the HARPS spectrometer in La Silla Observatory (E...

Mercury: Introduction to an End-member Planet

This Chapter introduces the major themes of this book. In many ways, Mercury is an extreme planet, and thus it provides a unique benchmark for testing our theories about the origin and evolution of other (particularly terrestrial) planets. Emphasis is given to synthesizing and critiqueing the book's chapters on the planet's origin, its metal-rich composition, its thermal and geophysical evoluti...

Chemical abundances of A and F-type stars: the Hyades open cluster

Abundances of 11 chemical elements have been determined for 29 F and 19 A dwarfs (“normal” and chemically peculiar with apparent rotational velocities ranging from 11 to 237 km.s−1) members of the Hyades cluster using Takeda’s (1995) iterative procedure well suited for fast rotators. High quality spectra of high to moderate resolution have been synthesized to derive the apparent rotational velo...
