Hybrid Ablation of Nonparoxysmal Atrial Fibrillation: The Convergent and Totally Thoracoscopic Approaches

چکیده
Nonparoxysmal atrial fibrillation continues to challenge electrophysiologist and surgeons alike. Stand-alone endocardial catheter ablation has resulted in less than satisfying results, while the on-pump Cox-Maze surgery excellent invasiveness limited its adoption amongst both referring providers surgeons. The CONVERGE IDE trial shed new light on this once dim problem. EPs Surgeons are now working together a Hybrid Team Ablation Approach provide combined strategy that improved patient outcomes rekindled collaboration necessary better outcomes. We herein summarize current Approaches (CONVERGE Totally Thoracoscopic) with nonparoxysmal fibrillation.

A Totally Thoracoscopic Ablation for Persistent Atrial Fibrillation
We report the case of a 72-year-old female with persistent atrial fibrillation who underwent a totally thoracoscopic ablation. A successful normal sinus conversion was achieved.
متن کاملHybrid thoracoscopic and transvenous catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation.
The hybrid approach combines an epicardial ablation with a percutaneous endocardial ablation in a single-step or sequential procedure. This study provides an overview of the hybrid procedure for the treatment of stand-alone atrial fibrillation (AF). Papers selected for this review were identified on PubMed and the final selection included nine studies. The total number of patients was 335 (rang...
متن کاملHybrid thoracoscopic surgical and transvenous catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation.
OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility, safety, and clinical outcomes up to 1 year in patients undergoing combined simultaneous thoracoscopic surgical and transvenous catheter atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation. BACKGROUND The combination of the transvenous endocardial approach with the thoracoscopic epicardial approach in a single AF ablation procedure overcomes ...
متن کاملTotally Thoracoscopic Ablation for Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation after Atrial Septal Defect Device Closure
Atrial septal defect (ASD) is one of the most common congenital heart defects in adults. Surgical repair is the most common treatment approach, but device closure has recently become widely performed in accordance with the trend toward less invasive surgical approaches. Although surgery is recommended when ASD is accompanied by atrial fibrillation, this study reports a case in which a complete ...
متن کاملHybrid Atrial Fibrillation Ablation
Treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF) has evolved significantly during the last 3 decades. Successful surgical AF ablation was developed by the pioneering work of Dr James Cox in 1987 resulting in the development of the Coxmaze (CM) procedure.1 Further experience and incorporation of ablation technology allowed subsequent modifications to increase efficacy and decrease morbidity, resulting in t...
