The Monte Carlo dynamics of a binary Lennard-Jones glass-forming mixture
We use a standard Monte Carlo algorithm to study the slow dynamics of a binary Lennard-Jones glass-forming mixture at low temperature. We find that the Monte Carlo approach is by far the most efficient way to simulate a stochastic dynamics since the relaxation is about 10 times faster than in Brownian dynamics and about 30 times faster than in stochastic dynamics. Moreover, the average dynamica...
متن کاملBayesian Mixture Modeling by Monte Carlo Simulation
It is shown that Bayesian inference from data modeled by a mixture distribution can feasibly be performed via Monte Carlo simulation. This method exhibits the true Bayesian predictive distribution, implicitly integrating over the entire underlying parameter space. An innnite number of mixture components can be accommodated without diiculty, using a prior distribution for mixing proportions that...
متن کاملHybrid Monte Carlo Simulation of Polymer Chains
We develop the hybrid Monte Carlo method for simulations of single off-lattice polymer chains. We discuss implementation and choice of simulation parameters in some detail. The performance of the algorithm is tested on models for homopolymers with shortor long-range self-repulsion, using chains with 16 ≤ N ≤ 512 monomers. Without excessive fine tuning, we find that the computational cost grows ...
متن کاملCluster hybrid Monte Carlo simulation algorithms.
We show that addition of Metropolis single spin flips to the Wolff cluster-flipping Monte Carlo procedure leads to a dramatic increase in performance for the spin-1/2 Ising model. We also show that adding Wolff cluster flipping to the Metropolis or heat bath algorithms in systems where just cluster flipping is not immediately obvious (such as the spin-3/2 Ising model) can substantially reduce t...
متن کاملHybrid Monte Carlo CT Simulation on GPU
Developing image reconstruction algorithms for diagnostic medical devices requires physically accurate and effective simulation tools. In this paper we present a hybrid Monte Carlo (MC) particle simulation method for Computed Tomography (CT) scanners. To meet the performance requirements, we combine several variance reduction techniques and tailor the algorithms for effective GPU execution. Var...
