Hydrogen-Assisted Cracking Fracture Analysis using High-Speed Camera and Delayed Hydrogen Cracking Test

چکیده

Dissimilar metal welds (DMWs) are commonly used when a high strength steel is overlaid with corrosion resistant alloy (CRA) for petrochemical applications. There have been reported failures of these DMWs during subsea service while under cathodic protection (CP). These caused by local hydrogen embrittlement susceptible microstructures that form at the weld fusion boundary. Hydrogen-assisted cracking (HAC) occurs as result and influenced base/filler combinations, welding post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) procedures. A delayed test was to simulate tensile load charging on 8630-FM 625 weld. The failure this sample recorded using high-speed camera capture crack initiation propagation failure. Fractography performed scanning electron microscope (SEM) along energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). fracture surfaces, EDS measurement video timestamps revealed brittle nucleation in planar growth CGHAZ regions continued propagate through same leading final ductile (microvoid coalescence) cellular dendritic region

Construction and testing of a hydrogen cracking cell

A UHV atomic hydrogen-cracking cell has been constructed to produce atomic hydrogen in order to perform in-situ cleaning of semiconductor samples. The cell was calibrated and tested with the objective of cleaning the III-V semiconductor samples such as GaAs. Mass spectroscopy studies during the atomic hydrogen cleaning of the GaAs samples revealed the chemical process of the hydrogen cleaning. ...

Hydrogen-induced Cracking in Pure Iron

The modulus and internal friction of Armco iron rere continuously measured during cathodic charging rith hydtogen to investigate crack initiation and grorth. The observed modulus decrease ras attributed to crack initiation and grorth. The internal friction increase doring cathodic charging ras atfributed to plastic deformation accompanying the crack formation. Both the modulos and internal fric...

Hydrogen-Induced Delayed Cracking in TRIP-Aided Lean-Alloyed Ferritic-Austenitic Stainless Steels

Susceptibility of three lean-alloyed ferritic-austenitic stainless steels to hydrogen-induced delayed cracking was examined, concentrating on internal hydrogen contained in the materials after production operations. The aim was to study the role of strain-induced austenite to martensite transformation in the delayed cracking susceptibility. According to the conducted deep drawing tests and cons...
