چکیده
Front Cover: In article number 2000265 by Paul D. Dalton, Hans-Werner Schmidt, and co-workers, (AB)n copolymers composed of hydrophilic poly(ethylene glycol)-based segments bisurea segments, acting as physical crosslinks, are tailored for different melt-processing technologies. Defi ned 3D constructs can be made from extrusion-based printing melt electrowriting while a typical nonwoven morphology is achieved with electrospinning. When exposed to water, the products swell form hydrogels that slowly disintegrate.

Random hydrophilic-hydrophobic copolymers
We study a single statistical amphiphilic copolymer chain AB in a selective solvent (e.g. water). Two situations are considered. In the annealed case, hydrophilic (A) and hydrophobic (B) monomers are at local chemical equilibrium and both the fraction of A monomers and their location along the chain can vary, whereas in the quenched case (which is relevant to proteins), the chemical sequence al...
متن کاملAnalysis of melt copolymers.
Melt copolymer chains are the main (most abundant) reaction product obtained when heating a blend of two (or more) condensation polymers (such as polyester + polycarbonate or polyester + polyamide or polyester + polyester) in which exchange reactions occur. In fact, during the melt-mixing reaction, an AB copolymer is formed and, as a consequence, the sample is a complex mixture made of three co...
متن کاملAdditive Manufacturing of Patient-Customizable Scaffolds for Tubular Tissues Using the Melt-Drawing Method
Polymeric fibrous scaffolds for guiding cell growth are designed to be potentially used for the tissue engineering (TE) of tubular organs including esophagi, blood vessels, tracheas, etc. Tubular scaffolds were fabricated via melt-drawing of highly elastic poly(l-lactide-co-ε-caprolactone) (PLC) fibers layer-by-layer on a cylindrical mandrel. The diameter and length of the scaffolds are customi...
متن کاملCT for Additive Manufacturing Process Characterisation: Assessment of melt strategies on defect population
Selective Electron Beam Melting (SEBM) is a promising powder bed Additive Manufacturing (AM) technique for near netshape manufacturing of high-value titanium components. However, as with every emerging technique, the manufacturing processes can still be greatly improved and optimised. In particular, the links between AM settings and the resulting sample porosity is of great interest, as the fat...
متن کاملImplicit modeling for additive manufacturing
Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology distinguishes itself from more traditional fabrication processes by several significant factors. It allows the creation of objects with complex geometry that would not be possible by subtractive manufacturing or molding. Additionally, 3d printers are of much simpler use than other tools. Finally, since the cost per objects does not change depending on the ...
