Hypersensitivity reaction after intravenous administration of meloxicam in dogs - case report

ABSTRACT Although rarely reported in veterinary medicine, this article shows three cases of dogs that presented anaphylactic reactions after intravenous administration meloxicam at therapeutic doses. Three different breeds and ages were submitted to anesthesia for surgical procedures ovariohysterectomy repair patellar luxation. The animals classified as ASA I did not present changes clinical laboratory tests. All anesthetized monitored by anesthesiologists, with careful multiparametric evaluation. Near the end procedures, was administered intravenously all dogs, drug used had same commercial presentation concentration, but lot numbers months. For less than a minute, showed significant hypotension, pressure values close 30 mmHg or inaudible Doppler. no skin signs, only hypotension decrease heart rate one them. immediately treated ephedrine atropine bradycardic patient. After emergency treatment, stabilized vital complications need additional intervention. event, signs clinical, behavioral changes.
