چکیده
The significant vertical heterogeneity, variations in ground stress directions, and irregular bedding interfaces make it extremely challenging to predict fracture propagation continental shale reservoirs. In this article, we conducted a series of triaxial laboratory experiments on outcrop rocks investigate the effects formation dip angle wellbore orientation crack under horizontal well conditions. Our study revealed that features can be categorized into four distinct types: (1) hydraulic fractures pass through interface without activating it; (2) activate interface; (3) open penetrate while also generating secondary fractures; (4) but do not interface. We found as decreases, likelihood penetrating increases. Conversely, increases, are more likely simply it. Moreover, observed azimuth significantly affects degree distortion. Specifically, higher angles corresponded

Wellbore Stability in Shale Formation Using Analytical and Numerical Simulation
Optimization of drilling fluid parameters such as mud weight, salt concentration, and temperature is essential to alleviate instability problems during drilling through shale sections. The selection of suitable mud parameters can benefit from analyses that consider significant instability processes involved in shale-drilling–fluid interactions. This paper describes the development of analytical...

متن کاملsimulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water
abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
Chemical Effect on Wellbore Instability of Nahr Umr Shale
Wellbore instability is one of the major problems that hamper the drilling speed in Halfaya Oilfield. Comprehensive analysis of geological and engineering data indicates that Halfaya Oilfield features fractured shale in the Nahr Umr Formation. Complex accidents such as wellbore collapse and sticking emerged frequently in this formation. Tests and theoretical analysis revealed that wellbore inst...
متن کاملRelationship between fracture dip angle, aperture and fluid flow in the fractured rock masses
Most of the Earth's crust contains fluids, and fractures are common throughout the upper part. They exist at a wide range of scales from micro-fractures within grains to major faults and shear zones that traverse the crust. In this paper, the stress-dependent permeability in fractured rock masses have been investigated considering the effects of nonlinear normal deformation and shear dilation o...
