چکیده

In Brief Purpose: To assess whether small-incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) for high myopia reduces the binocular visual function assessed by stereoacuity, acuity, contrast sensitivity, and summation. Setting: University hospital. Design: Prospective case series. Methods: Patients with a myopic spherical equivalent of at least 6.00 diopters (D) scheduled SMILE aimed emmetropia were included. Psychophysical testing was performed correction preoperatively but no postoperatively. Stereoacuity Randot Circles test near Frisby test, acuity (monocular binocular) high-contrast Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study charts, sensitivity Pelli-Robson chart Freiburg Acuity Contrast Test. Binocular summation calculated comparing score against best monocular score. Results: A total 138 eyes 69 patients The mean changed from −7.46 D ± 1.06 (SD) to −0.23 0.40 did not change significantly postoperatively; median (interquartile range) −0.32 (−6.21 1.55) seconds arc 0.00 (−7.5 5.0) (P ≥ .06). postoperative uncorrected distance different preoperative corrected = .40). declined slightly monocularly both tests unaltered binocularly .08). following surgery .09). Conclusions: reduce is after myopia.

Small Incision Lenticule Extraction for Postkeratoplasty Myopia and Astigmatism

Purpose. To evaluate the visual and refractive outcomes after small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) for treating myopia and myopic astigmatism after penetrating keratoplasty (PKP). Design. Case-series. Methods. Ten eyes of 10 patients with previous PKP and residual myopic astigmatism for whom pentacam imaging and thickness measurements were acceptable for laser vision correction. Manifest...

Outcomes of small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) in low myopia.

PURPOSE To report the visual and refractive outcomes of small incision lenticule extraction for low myopia using the VisuMax femtosecond laser (Carl Zeiss Meditec, Jena, Germany). METHODS A retrospective analysis of 120 consecutive small incision lenticule extraction procedures was performed for low myopia. Inclusion criteria were preoperative spherical equivalent refraction up to -3.50 diopt...

One-year outcomes of small-incision lenticule extraction (SMILE): mild to moderate myopia vs. high myopia

BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to compare the refractive outcomes of small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) in high-myopic patients with those of mild- to moderate-myopic patients. METHODS This study included 183 eyes of 92 myopic patients treated with SMILE using a VisuMax 500-kHz femtosecond laser. Treated eyes were divided into two groups, according to the preoperative spher...

Early outcomes after small incision lenticule extraction and photorefractive keratectomy for correction of high myopia

We prospectively compared visual and refractive outcomes in patients with high myopia and myopic astigmatism after small-incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) and photorefractive keratetctomy (PRK) with mitomycin C. Sixty-six eyes of 33 patients (mean age, 29.7 ± 5.6 years) were included (SMILE: 34 eyes, PRK 32 eyes). Preoperatively, no significant difference was noted in manifest spherical equ...

Posterior Corneal Elevation after Small Incision Lenticule Extraction for Moderate and High Myopia

PURPOSE To investigate the changes of posterior corneal elevation after small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) for moderate and high myopia. METHODS In this prospective study, fifty consecutive eyes of thirty patients (10 male, 20 female) who underwent SMILE for myopia and myopic astigmatism were included. Eyes were divided in two groups based on the preoperative spherical equivalent ref...
