Impacts of Varying Blood Flow Restriction Cuff Size and Material on Arterial, Venous and Calf Muscle Pump-Mediated Blood Flow

چکیده
Blood flow restriction (BFR) may become ineffective or potentially dangerous without sufficient standardization. The purpose of this investigation was therefore to (1) assess the viability multiple sizes a novel BFR cuff determine arterial occlusion pressure (AOP) and (2) compare resting arterial, venous calf muscle pump (cMP)-mediated blood between aforementioned conditions commonly employed wide-rigid, tourniquet-style cuff. In randomized, counter-balanced, crossover fashion, 20 apparently healthy males (18–40 years) donned widely wide-rigid (WR) cuff, along with largest (NE) manufacturer-recommended (NER) narrow-elastic Participants subsequently assessed AOP, as well (at 80%AOP) venous, cMP relative baseline values via ultrasound. All analyses were performed at significance level p < 0.05. Analyses revealed significant condition effect for AOP (p 0.001; ηp2 = 0.907) whereby WR significantly lower than both NE NER; in addition, latter two did not differ. Compared baseline, there no statistically differences cuffs either cMP-mediated flow. Unsurprisingly, participants demonstrated 80% AOP. These findings support product, evidenced by consistent acquisition equivocal parameters.

Venous flow velocity, venous volume and arterial blood flow.
The relationship of arterial blood flow and venous volume to venous flow velocity was studied in normal subjects. The effects of current modes of treatment in venous thrombosis and of a vasodilator drug on venous flow velocity were also investigated. Total calf flow and venous volume were measured by venous occlusion plethysmography while venous flow axial velocity was determined by the transit...
متن کاملEnhancing strength and postocclusive calf blood flow in older people with training with blood-flow restriction.
The response of calf-muscle strength, resting blood flow, and postocclusive blood flow (PObf) were investigated after 4 wk of low-load resistance training (LLRT) with and without blood-flow restriction in a matched-leg design. Ten untrained older individuals age 62-73 yr performed unilateral plantar-flexion LLRT at 25% 1-repetition maximum (1RM). One limb was trained with normal blood flow and ...

• It has often been considered that pie thy smographic foot or hand, and calf or forearm, measurements are representative of skin or of muscle blood flow, respectively, because of the preponderant amounts of each tissue in these areas. However, Cooper et al. have demonstrated that 60% of the total forearm flow may be in the skin under certain conditions. It is obvious, therefore, that increases...

متن کاملRole of resistance training with the approach of blood flow restriction in skeletal muscle cell growth
Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the response of ERK1/2 protein and muscular morphological adaptations to a period of resistance training with local blood flow restriction. Materials and methods: Twenty healthy male Wistar rats without clinically evident disease (5 weeks old, 120±7 g weight) were divided into four equal groups: control, control with limited blood flow...
