Impairments to the multisensory integration brain regions during migraine chronification: correlation with the vestibular dysfunction

چکیده
Objectives Migraine is often combined with vestibular dysfunction, particularly in patients chronic migraine (CM). However, the pathogenesis of chronification leading to dysfunction not fully understood. The current study investigated whether structural or functional impairments brain during could be associated development. Methods eligible participants underwent clinical assessment and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. Voxel-based morphometry (VBM) determined impairment by evaluating alterations gray matter volume (GMV). Functional was assessed mean amplitude low-frequency fluctuation (mALFF). Furthermore, resting-state connectivity (rsFC) regions possessing examined a seed-based approach. We also analyzed correlations between altered neuroimaging features variables performed multiple linear regression. Results Eighteen CM patients, 18 episodic (EM) healthy controls (HCs) were included this study. A one-way ANOVA indicated group differences mALFF. These located within right supramarginal gyrus (SMG), left angular (AG), middle frontal (MFG), occipital (MOG), rolandic operculum (Rol) superior parietal (SPG). During rsFC analysis, had more enhanced SPG MOG than EM HC groups. revealed AG In regression, after controlling for age, body mass index (BMI) disease duration, (β = 48.896, p 0.021) found predict total Dizziness Handicap Inventory (DHI) score an explained variance 25.1%. Moreover, 1.253, 0.003) SMG −1.571, 0.049) significant predictors frequency, accounting 73.8%. Conclusion due are primarily concentrated multisensory integration-related regions. Additionally, can frequency degree dysfunction. Therefore, these potential mechanisms therapeutic targets developing migraine.

[Pathophysiology of migraine chronification].
In approximately 3% of migraineurs, migraine evolves into more protracted and severe conditions annually. Meanwhile, approximately 26% of chronic migraine cases regain the episodic nature of migraine headaches in two years. The prevalence of chronic migraine is estimated to be approximately 1%. Although the pathophysiology of migraine chronification is poorly understood, several studies have de...
متن کاملVestibular migraine has higher correlation with carsickness than non-vestibular migraine and Meniere's disease.
PURPOSE To investigate whether patients with vestibular migraine (VM) are more susceptible to carsickness than patients with non-vestibular migraine (NVM) or Meniere's disease (MD). METHODS Consecutive patients with a diagnosis of definite VM, probable VM, NVM, or MD at our Headache and Dizziness clinics were interviewed using the same three questions to investigate the history of carsickness...
متن کاملP150: The Effect of Periodontitis on Migraine Chronification
Migraine is a neurovascular disorder that is characterized by unilateral, pulsatile headaches. Migraine due to its individual and social effects is known as a major cause of disability in the world. The main complication of this disease is chronification that is known as chronic migraine (CM). It seems that several factors contribute to migraine chronification such as age, female gender, obesit...
