Implementation of a Modular Distributed Fault-Tolerant Controller for MMC Applications

چکیده

Centralized control algorithm limits the hardware flexibility of a modular multilevel converter (MMC). Therefore, distributed structure has recently started to be seen in industry application. Even though controller reduces single point failure risk compared centralized controller, entire systems increases due number local controllers. However, can programmed such way as replace faulty and sustain MMC operation. In this paper, fault-tolerant is implemented laboratory-scale prototype. The built four SMs per phase for proof-of-concept. prototype also by two arm. capability validated with experimental Opal-RT result-time simulator results control-hardware-in-loop (CHIL) environment.
