Implicit Mathematical Model of Photovoltaic Arrays with Improved Calculation Speed Based on Inflection Points of the Current–Voltage Curves

Dynamic reconfiguration, the monitoring of power production, and fault diagnosis photovoltaic arrays, among other applications, require fast accurate models arrays. In literature, some use Lambert-W function to represent each module array, which increases calculation time. Other that implicit equations avoid do not inflection voltages simplify system nonlinear increasing computational burden. Therefore, this paper proposes mathematical for series-parallel (SP) total-cross-tied (TCT) arrays based on single-diode model points current–voltage curves. These decrease time by reducing complexity equation systems string SP whole TCT. Consequently, process solves speeds up in comparison with processes solve traditional explicit function. The results several simulation scenarios using proposed different array sizes show a reduction computation 82.97% contrast solution. Additionally, when TCT larger than 2×2 is used, between 47.71% 92.28%. dynamic demonstrate provides same optimal configuration but 7 times faster solutions, solved at least 4 classical solutions.
