In-Vivo In-Vitro Screening of Ocimum basilicum L. Ecotypes with Differential UV-B Radiation Sensitivity

چکیده

Elevated UV-B radiation (UV-B) has been previously reported to affect plant development, physiology, and promote the biosynthesis of UV-absorbing compounds. Sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) is an aromatic herb, widely cultivated worldwide for its use in food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics industry. This species exhibits high diversity among different ecotypes based on their geographical locations. There little research intra-specific photosynthetic metabolic differences tolerance across from areas. study evaluated protection responses nine O. accessions with geographic origins. Specifically, changes chlorophyll a fluorescence parameters leaf rosmarinic acid (RA) compound were assessed using “in vivo-vitro system” closed-type production system. Our results revealed significant variation mechanisms when plants treated doses. The accumulation RA increased significantly by light treatment OCI142, OCI148, OCI30, OCI160, OCI102, highest concentration measured OCI160 plants. ecotype showed value Fv/Fm ratio, 0.70, after 48 h. Recovery functionality was more rapid than other sweet accessions, which may indicate better capacity associated enhanced UV absorbing shows that represents effective mechanism reduce photoinhibitory photooxidative damage caused stress.

Chicoric acid found in basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) leaves

This is the first report to identify the presence of chicoric acid (cichoric acid; also known as dicaffeoyltartaric acid, which is a caffeic acid derivatizedwith tartaric acid) in basil leaves. Rosmarinic acid, chicoric acid and caftaric acid (in the order of most abundant to least; all derivatives of caffeic acid) were identified in fresh basil leaves. Rosmarinic acid was themain phenolic comp...

Hepatoprotective triterpenes from hairy root cultures of Ocimum basilicum L.

Six triterpene acids identified as betulinic, oleanolic, ursolic, 3-epimaslinic, alphitolic and euscaphic acids have been isolated from a dichloromethane extract of hairy root cultures of Ocimum basilicum L. (Lamiaceae). These cultures were obtained by genetic transformation using Agrobacterium rhizogenes. The extract as well as the isolated compounds were evaluated for their hepatoprotective a...

Sensitivity Differences and Accumulation of Screening Compounds in Three Conifer Plants under Enhanced UV-B Radiation

Responses of American arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis), common yew (Taxus x media) and juniper (Juniperus communis) to enhanced UV-B irradiance were studied. Control plants were grown without UV treatment, but at identical PhaR and temperature regimes. Visual symptoms of the ultraviolet effect noted on Thuja shoots as brown/red discolouration were correlated with the accumulation of phenolic com...

effects of salicylic acid on photosynthetic pigment content in ocimum basilicum l. under uv-c radiation stress

basil plants (ocimum basilicum l.) were sprayed with salicylic acid (1mm) and exposed to ultraviolet-c (uv-c) radiation (40 wm-2) after emergence of six developed leaves. plants were grown for 18 days and exposed to uv-c for 5 mind-1 alternatively. chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b and carotenoide were considered for analysis of photosynthetic pigments. the results showed that the photosynthetic pig...
