Induced microwave scattering in the ITER edge transport barrier at ECRH and possibility of its modeling at ASDEX-Upgrade

چکیده

The induced scattering parametric decay instability of O-mode polarized microwaves leading to excitation lower hybrid or electron plasma waves localized within a tokamak edge transport barrier is investigated. Numerical estimates the threshold and its growth rate for this scenario are given conditions O2-mode ECRH experiments at ASDEX-Upgrade, where experimental investigation these phenomena possible.

Evidence for strong inversed shear of toroidal rotation at the edge-transport barrier in the ASDEX upgrade.

The toroidal rotation of H-mode plasmas in ASDEX Upgrade is studied in the outermost 5 cm of the confined plasma. The projection of the rotation velocity along the line of sight (approximately toroidal) is measured using charge exchange recombination spectroscopy, with a radial resolution of up to 3 mm and a temporal resolution of 1.9 ms. At about 1 cm inside the separatrix the rotation exhibit...

Pedestal Studies at ASDEX Upgrade

The ASDEX Upgrade suite of edge pedestal diagnostics has been significantly improved. A new edge ion temperature and toroidal velocity diagnostic as well as a novel diagnostic for radial electric fields (Er) have been added. The application of integrated data analysis in a probabilistic framework contributes substantially to the quality of Er and electron density profiles. The equilibrium recon...

High temporal and spatial resolution reflectometry investigations of type-I ELMs induced edge barrier collapse at ASDEX Upgrade

The edge barrier collapse induced by spontaneous and pellet triggered ELMs has been characterized by means of a new technique based on the reflectometry group delay. The analysis of the behaviour of the density layers at the plasma edge revealed small differences between the two types of ELMs. With this technique we are able to detect profile steepening and fuelling effects due to pellet inject...

The compact neutron spectrometer at ASDEX Upgrade.

The first neutron spectrometer of ASDEX Upgrade (AUG) was installed in November 2008. It is a compact neutron spectrometer (CNS) based on a BC501A liquid scintillating detector, which can simultaneously measure 2.45-MeV and 14-MeV neutrons emitted from deuterium (D) plasmas and γ radiation. The scintillating detector is coupled to a digital pulse shape discrimination data acquisition (DPSD) sys...

Disruption Control on FTU and ASDEX Upgrade with ECRH

The use of ECRH has been investigated as a promising technique to avoid or postpone disruptions in dedicated experiments in FTU and ASDEX Upgrade. Disruptions have been produced by injecting Mo through laser blow-off (FTU) or by puffing deuterium gas above the Greenwald limit (FTU and ASDEX Upgrade). The toroidal magnetic field is kept fixed and the ECRH launching mirrors are steered before eve...
