Influence of foot traffic, irrigation, nitrogen (N) fertilization, and weather factors on creeping bentgrass “Focus” (Agrostis stolonifera L.) tissue N content

چکیده

Tissue nitrogen content is an important indicator of N removal in clippings from putting greens. To help managers determine the average tissue content, a better understanding factors controlling turfgrass needed. This study aimed to quantify how different application rates, foot traffic intensities, soil volumetric water (VWC), and weather influence creeping bentgrass ‘Focus’ (Agrostis stolonifera L.). Field experiments on combined effects fertilizer were performed two greens with 0.6 0.9% organic matter (SOM) 2018, where was applied at 0, 10, or 20 kg ha?1 every 2 wk, intensity maintained three rates: 1,800, 3,600 rounds wk?1 16 May 28 August. A field experiment VWC conducted SOM green 2019, VWCs low (12–15%), medium (17–22%), high (25–29%) levels by hand-watering, assistance time domain reflectometry; intensities 700, 1,400 31 4 October. The ranged 2.5 5.0% (average: 3.9%). rate main factor but had no impact. Temperature, relative humidity, evapotranspiration also minimal nonexistent impacts.

Establishment of transgenic herbicide-resistant creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera L.) in nonagronomic habitats.

Concerns about genetically modified (GM) crops include transgene flow to compatible wild species and unintended ecological consequences of potential transgene introgression. However, there has been little empirical documentation of establishment and distribution of transgenic plants in wild populations. We present herein the first evidence for escape of transgenes into wild plant populations wi...

Cultivation Effects on Organic Matter Concentration and Infiltration Rates of Two Creeping Bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera L.) Putting Greens

Soil cultivation is commonly used to manage organic matter (OM) accumulation in golf course putting greens. Our objectives were to determine: (i) if hollow-tine cultivation is more effective than solidtine cultivation at managing OM and water infiltration, (ii) if venting methods are effective at managing OM and water infiltration, and (iii) if venting alters or interacts with effects of earlyo...

Cytochrome P450 Inhibitors Reduce Creeping Bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera) Tolerance to Topramezone

Creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera L.) is moderately tolerant to the p-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase-inhibiting herbicide topramezone. However, the contribution of plant metabolism of topramezone to this tolerance is unknown. Experiments were conducted to determine if known cytochrome P450 monooxygenase inhibitors 1-aminobenzotriazole (ABT) and malathion alone or in combination with t...

Expression of a Novel Antimicrobial Peptide Penaeidin4-1 in Creeping Bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera L.) Enhances Plant Fungal Disease Resistance

BACKGROUND Turfgrass species are agriculturally and economically important perennial crops. Turfgrass species are highly susceptible to a wide range of fungal pathogens. Dollar spot and brown patch, two important diseases caused by fungal pathogens Sclerotinia homoecarpa and Rhizoctonia solani, respectively, are among the most severe turfgrass diseases. Currently, turf fungal disease control ma...
