Influence of Student Motherhood on Academic Performance in Public Universities in Western Kenya

The challenges of balancing multiple roles motherhood and learning greatly impact student mothers’ academic success. Having obligations on top their responsibilities make undergraduate mothers unique. This uniqueness affects ability to compete academically with others. study used the role conflict theory adopted a mixed-method research design. It stratified simple random sampling technique. researcher derived desired sample size using Krejcie Morgan formulae. Data for was collected questionnaires, focus group discussions, document analysis, interview schedules. analysed via descriptive inferential statistics. analysis findings revealed that influences in many ways. Student face such as inability balance studies mothering, childcare difficulties, maternal stress, anxiety, time management, tiredness. These influence mothers, negatively affecting overall achievement. recommends need special accommodation facility at university enable them more smoothly.
