Integrable Models and Confinement in (2 + 1)-dimensional Weakly-coupled Yang-mills Theory
We generalize the (2 + 1)-dimensional Yang-Mills theory to an anisotropic form with two gauge coupling constants e and e. In axial gauge, a regularized version of the Hamiltonian of this gauge theory is H0 + e H1, where H0 is the Hamiltonian of a set of (1 + 1)-dimensional principal chiral sigma nonlinear models and H1 couples charge densities of these sigma models. We treatH1 as the interactio...
متن کاملString Tensions and Representations in Anisotropic (2 + 1)-dimensional Weakly-coupled Yang-mills Theory
In earlier papers we established quark confinement analytically in anisotropic (2 + 1)dimensional Yang-Mills theory with two gauge coupling constants. Here we point out a few features of the confining phase. These are: 1) the string tension in the x-direction as a function of representation obeys a sine law, and 2) static adjoint sources are not confined. [email protected]
متن کاملGlueball Masses in (2 + 1)-dimensional Anisotropic Weakly-coupled Yang-mills Theory
The confinement problem has been solved in the anisotropic (2+1)-dimensional SU(N) Yang-Mills theory at weak coupling. In this paper, we find the low-lying spectrum for N = 2. The lightest excitations are pairs of fundamental particles of the (1 + 1)dimensional SU(2) × SU(2) principal chiral nonlinear sigma model bound in a linear potential, with a specified matching condition where the particl...
متن کاملIntegrable subsystem of Yang–Mills dilaton theory
With the help of the Cho–Faddeev–Niemi–Shabanov decomposition of the SU(2) Yang–Mills field, we find an integrable subsystem of SU(2) Yang–Mills theory coupled to the dilaton. Here integrability means the existence of infinitely many symmetries and infinitely many conserved currents. Further, we construct infinitely many static solutions of this integrable subsystem. These solutions can be iden...
متن کاملYang-Mills Theory as a Deformation of Topological Field Theory, Dimensional Reduction and Quark Confinement
We prove quark confinement in four-dimensional QCD based on the criterion of area law of Wilson loop. First, Yang-Mills theory with a non-Abelian gauge group G is reformulated as a deformation of a novel topological field theory. Next, a special class of topological field theories is defined by both BRST and anti-BRST exact action corresponding to the maximal abelian gauge leaving the maximal t...
