INTEGRATING TOPOGRAPHIC, PHOTOGRAMMETRIC AND LASER SCANNING TECHNIQUES FOR A SCAN-TO-BIM PROCESS

Abstract. The preservation of historic buildings can often be particularly difficult due to the lack detailed information about architectural features, construction details, etc.. However, in recent years considerable technological innovation field Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) has been achieved by Building Information Modeling (BIM) process. BIM was developed as a methodology used mainly for new but, given its potential, this approach also successfully existing buildings, especially historical value. In case, it is more properly referred Historic – or Heritage (HBIM). HBIM process, essential precede parametric modeling phase building with 3D survey that allows acquisition all geometric information. This methodology, called Scan-to-BIM, involves use techniques production point clouds “database” modeling. Scan-to-BIM have several issues relating complexity survey. work aims apply valuable test method, based on integrating different (topography, photogrammetry laser scanning), improves data phase. “Real Cantina Borbonica” (Cellar Royal House Bourbon) Partinico (Sicily, Italy) chosen case study. allowed achieving testing an exclusively topographic constraint merge same reference system (laser scanner photogrammetric clouds).
