Integration of a MSF Desalination System with a HDH System for Brine Recovery

A hybrid Multi-Stage Flash–Humidification Dehumidification (MSF-HDH) desalination system is investigated for energy recovery from an MSF system. The MSF-HDH increases total productivity and performance ratio reduces brine rejection. Hot condensed steam that leaves the heater used to warm rejected pretreated a higher temperature suitable HDH operation (about 60 °C). This allows us increase product (desalinated water) without additional “external” input Four different layouts of integrated are presented compared. results show can utilize over 66% existing blowdown, while achieve gained output ratio—GOR, water ratio—RR, freshwater cost 8.73, 44.86%, 30,549 m3/day 1.068 $/m3 freshwater, respectively. Utilizing 66.96% blowdown by leads daily about 670 m3 drinking water, which enough support 134,000 persons considering consumption 5 L per person.
