Interaction of multiple ice streams on the Malin Shelf during deglaciation of the last British–Irish Ice Sheet

چکیده
The Malin Shelf, off north-west Ireland, was an important zone of confluence for marine-based ice streams the former British–Irish Ice Sheet (BIIS). Legacy geophysical datasets are used to construct models seismic character, relative age and distribution shelf sediments landforms. Buried surface landform assemblages provide evidence that during deglaciation Late Devensian BIIS, region occupied not by a single Hebrides Stream as previously proposed, but four discrete streams, here referred Sea (SHIS), Inner Hebrides, North Channel Tory Island streams. Our observations stratigraphic relationships between deposits these indicate physical interactions them deglaciation. We interpret initial dominant cross-shelf flow along SHIS impeding from other sheet sectors. Following withdrawal grounding line edge mid-shelf bathymetric highs deglaciation, reconfiguration paths allowed expansion smaller draining central Scotland north-western Ireland. This internal dynamic behaviour provides possible analogue time-transgressive patterns reported outlets West Antarctic Sheet.

Diachronous retreat of the Greenland ice sheet during the last deglaciation
The last deglaciation is the most recent interval of large-scale climate change that drove the Greenland ice sheet from continental shelf to within its present extent. Here, we use a database of 645 published 10Be ages from Greenland to document the spatial and temporal patterns of retreat of the Greenland ice sheet during the last deglaciation. Following initial retreat of its marine margins, ...

in the present study, the effect of e-64 at different concentrations (0.5, 1, 5 and 10 µm) added to (1) the ivm medium on oocyte nuclear maturation and developmental competence of ovine oocytes, and (2) to the ivc medium on embryonic development of ovine embryos were investigated.
The last deglaciation of the southeastern sector of the Scandinavian ice sheet.
The Scandinavian Ice Sheet (SIS) was an important component of the global ice sheet system during the last glaciation, but the timing of its growth to or retreat from its maximum extent remains poorly known. We used 115 cosmogenic beryllium-10 ages and 70 radiocarbon ages to constrain the timing of three substantial ice-margin fluctuations of the SIS between 25,000 and 12,000 years before the p...
متن کاملRadiocarbon constraints on readvances of the British–Irish Ice Sheet in the northern Irish Sea Basin during the last deglaciation
Moraines deposited by the Dundalk Bay ice lobe record two readvances of the Irish Ice Sheet into the northern Irish Sea Basin during the last deglaciation. These readvances overrode and incorporated fossiliferous marine muds from the floor of Dundalk Bay. AMS C dates from monospecific microfaunas obtained from these muds indicate that the earlier (Clogher Head) readvance occurred sometime betwe...
متن کاملQuantifying ice-sheet feedbacks during the last glacial inception
[1] The last glacial inception ( 116 ky ago) has long been used to test the sensitivity of climate models to insolation. From these simulations, atmospheric, oceanic and vegetation feedbacks have been shown to amplify the initial insolation signal into a rapid growth of ice-sheets over the northern hemisphere. However, due to the lack of comprehensive atmosphere-ocean-vegetation-northern hemisp...
