International consensus on a standard set of outcome measures for child and youth anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder

A major barrier to improving care effectiveness for mental health is a lack of consensus on outcomes measurement. The International Consortium Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM) has already developed consensus-based standard set anxiety and depression in adults (including the Patient Questionnaire-9, Generalised Anxiety Disorder 7-item Scale, WHO Disability Schedule). This Position Paper reports recommendations specifically anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder children young people aged between 6 24 years. An international ICHOM working group 27 clinical, research, lived experience experts formed through teleconferences, an exercise using adapted Delphi technique (a method reaching consensus), iterative anonymous voting, supported by sequential research inputs. systematic scoping review identified 70 possible 107 relevant measurement instruments. Measures were appraised their feasibility routine practice (ie, brevity, free availability, validation people, language translation) psychometric performance validity, reliability, sensitivity change). final recommends tracking symptoms, suicidal thoughts behaviour, functioning as minimum seven primarily patient-reported outcome measures: Revised Children's Depression Obsessive Compulsive Inventory Children, Impact Events Columbia Suicide Severity Rating KIDSCREEN-10, Global Assessment Child Life Interference Scale. set's validated feedback survey involving 487 participants across 45 countries. should be used alongside with clinicians selecting age-appropriate measures.
