Drazin Inverses of Operators with Rational Resolvent

Let A be a bounded linear operator on a Banach space such that the resolvent of A is rational. If 0 is in the spectrum of A, then it is well known that A is Drazin invertible. We investigate spectral properties of the Drazin inverse of A. For example we show that the Drazin inverse of A is a polynomial in A.

Approximation of Semigroups and Related Operator Functions by Resolvent Series

Abstract. We consider the approximation of semigroups e and of the functions φj(τA) that appear in exponential integrators by resolvent series. The interesting fact is that the resolvent series expresses the operator functions e and φj(τA), respectively, in efficiently computable terms. This is important for semigroups, where the new approximation is different from well-known approximations by ...

18.303: Introduction to Green’s functions and operator inverses

In analogy with the inverse A−1 of a matrix A, we try to construct an analogous inverse Â−1 of differential operator Â, and are led to the concept of a Green’s function G(x,x′) [the ˆ (A)x,x′ “matrix element” of Â−1]. Although G is a perfectly well-defined function, in trying to construct it and define its properties we are drawn inexorably to something that appears less well defined: ÂG seems ...

On a subclass of multivalent analytic functions associated with an extended fractional differintegral operator

Making use of an extended fractional differintegral operator ( introduced recently by Patel and Mishra), we introduce a new subclass of multivalent analytic functions and investigate certain interesting properties of this subclass.

Inverses of Polynomial Functions

Let (K, 3) be a (commutative) topological field. (We do not require that multiplicative inversion be continuous, i.e. 3 is a ring topology. See [l, p. 274] for the definition of the latter.) Throughout this paper, 11 will denote a basic system of neighborhoods of zero for 3. Let P(X) be a polynomial in K[X] of degree »sS2, and let S= {P(a)\a£EK}. We will be concerned with suitably defining a mu...
