Investigating the Use of AR Glasses for Content Annotation on Mobile Devices

Mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets have limited display size input capabilities that make a variety of tasks challenging. Coupling the mobile device with Augmented Reality eyewear smartglasses can help address some these challenges. In specific context digital content annotation tasks, this combination has potential to enhance user experience on two fronts. First, annotations be offloaded into air around device, freeing precious screen real-estate. Second, often come equipped sensors including camera, users annotate documents pictures or videos their environment, captured spot, hands-free, from wearer's perspective. We present AnnotAR, prototype we use research probe assess viability approach annotation. AnnotAR gather users' preliminary feedback in laboratory setting, showcase how it could support real-world cases.
