Is the observable Universe consistent with the cosmological principle?

چکیده

The Cosmological Principle (CP) -- the notion that Universe is spatially isotropic and homogeneous on large scales underlies a century of progress in cosmology. It conventionally formulated through Friedmann-Lema\^itre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) cosmologies as spacetime metric, culminates successful highly predictive $\Lambda$-Cold-Dark-Matter ($\Lambda$CDM) model. Yet, tensions have emerged within $\Lambda$CDM model, most notably statistically significant discrepancy value Hubble constant, $H_0$. Since cosmic expansion determined by single parameter intimately tied to CP, implications $H_0$ tension may extend beyond CP itself. This review surveys current observational hints for deviations from expectations highlighting synergies disagreements warrant further study. Setting aside debate about individual structures, potential include variations cosmological parameters sky, discrepancies dipoles, mysterious alignments quasar polarizations galaxy spins. While it possible host systematics are impacting results, equally plausible precision cosmology outgrown FLRW paradigm, an extremely pragmatic but non-fundamental symmetry assumption.

Dark Energy and the Observable Universe

We consider ever-expanding Big Bang models with a cosmological constant, Λ, and investigate in detail the evolution of the observable part of the universe. We also discuss quintessence models from the same point of view. A new concept, the Λ-sphere (or Q-sphere, in the case of quintessence) is introduced. This is the surface in our visible universe which bounds the region where dark energy domi...

Panning and Zooming the Observable Universe with Subsequence-Matching Trees

We introduce a web-based, client-server computing infrastructure to assist the interactive navigation of large-scale astronomy observations. Large image datasets are partitioned into a spatial index structure that allows prefix-matching of spatial objects. In conjunction with pixel-based overlays, this approach allows fetching, displaying, panning and zooming of gigabit panoramas of the sky in ...

Observable Quantities in Cosmological Models with Strings

The Friedman equation for the universe with arbitrary curvature (k = 0,±1), filled with mutually noninteracting pressureless dust, radiation, cosmological constant, and strings is considered. We assume the string domination scenario for the evolution of the latter component. Moreover, we discuss the simplest possibility for the scaling of the string energy density: ̺ ∝ R. For such models we writ...

The Aleph Cosmological Principle 1

A general cosmological principle — Aleph — is proposed as a substitute to the Anthropic principle. Furthermore, the universe, conceived as a world ensemble, is characterized by many (possibly infinite) X-Life world principles. The only known X-Life world principle recovers much of the Anthropic conjecture. The inescapable final conclusion is the formulation of the Strong Copernicus principle.

A cosmological surprise: the universe accelerates.

A cosmological surprise: the universe accelerates. Cosmology is in turmoil. The standard model of a few years ago has recently been abandoned and replaced by new ideas. The reasons for this dramatic change are new measurements of the geometry and the matter contents of the universe. The new model implies a dynamical age of the universe that accommodates the oldest known stellar objects, but rai...
