Error-resilient video coding with end-to-end rate-distortion optimized at macroblock level
Intra macroblock refreshment is an effective approach for error-resilient video coding. In this paper, in addition to intra coding, we propose to add two macroblock coding modes to enhance the transmission robustness of the coded bitstream, which are inter coding with redundant m

JPEG2000 ROI coding through component priority for digital mammography
Region Of Interest (ROI) coding is a prominent feature of some image coding systems aimed to prioritize specific areas of the image through the construction of a codestream that, decoded at increasing bit-rates, recovers the ROI first and with higher quality than the rest of the
Rate-distortion optimized interactive browsing of JPEG2000 images
This paper is concerned with remote browsing of JPEG2000 compressed imagery. A potentially interactive client identifies a region and maximum resolution of interest. The server responds by sending information from the JPEG2000 code-stream which is relevant to this region and reso
Binocular-Combination-Oriented Perceptual Rate-Distortion Optimization for Stereoscopic Video Coding
In the chain of stereoscopic video processing, stereoscopic video coding and viewing are usually two independent stages. Conventional stereoscopic video coding puts emphasis on improving the coding efficiency by seeking the optimal trade-off between the coding bit-rate and the si
