Kaleidoscopic structured light

چکیده

Full surround 3D imaging for shape acquisition is essential generating digital replicas of real-world objects. Surrounding an object we seek to scan with a kaleidoscope, that is, configuration multiple planar mirrors, produces image the encodes information from combinatorially large number virtual viewpoints. This practically useful full reconstruction object, but cannot be used directly, as do not know what viewpoint each pixel corresponds---the label. We introduce structured light system combines projector and camera kaleidoscope. then prove can accurately determine labels pixels, arbitrary kaleidoscope configurations, using projector-camera epipolar geometry. use this result show our serve multi-view hundreds projectors cameras. makes capable scanning complex shapes precisely coverage. demonstrate advantages kaleidoscopic by objects exhibit range reflectances.

Kaleidoscopic imaging

Kaleidoscopes have a great potential in computational photography as a tool for redistributing light rays. In time-of-flight imaging the concept of the kaleidoscope is also useful when dealing with the reconstruction of the geometry that causes multiple reflections. This work is a step towards opening new possibilities for the use of mirror systems as well as towards making their use more pract...

Concealing with Structured Light

While making objects less visible (or invisible) to a human eye or a radar has captured people's imagination for centuries, current attempts towards realization of this long-awaited functionality range from various stealth technologies to recently proposed cloaking devices. A majority of proposed approaches share a number of common deficiencies such as design complexity, polarization effects, b...

Calibrating a Structured Light

Calibration of a structured light system is considered in this paper. The system consists of a projector whose output is controlled by a liquid crystal shutter, and a camera to capture the images. A sequence of patterns is projected to temporally encode 256 stripes on the visible surfaces. The transformation from 3D world coordinates to camera image plane coordinates and projector stripe ids ar...

Reconstruction Using Structured Light

Extracting range data through active optical triangulation requires robust stripe edge detection w. r. t. the emitted pattern. On the other hand, due to ambiguous subpattern in the projection caused by the limitations of the windowed uniqueness property, corresponding a pattern consisting of multiple stripes, in attempts to reduce the number of input images, often leads to mislabeling. Moreover...

Adaptive Color Structured Light

A novel structured light method is described. The projection patterns are automatically adapted to the characteristics of the scene as part of the acquisition process, thus maximizing performance and minimizing the number of projection patterns. Color is used for light plane labeling. This allows to increase the dimension of the code space, hence the noise margins, without increasing the number...
