KM3NeT broadcast optical data transport system

Abstract The optical data transport system of the KM3NeT neutrino telescope at bottom Mediterranean Sea will provide more than 6000 modules in detector arrays with a point-to-point connection to control stations onshore. ARCA and ORCA detectors are being installed depth about 3500 m 2500 m, respectively their distance is 100 kilometers 40 kilometers. In particular, two optimised for detection cosmic neutrinos energies above 1 TeV (ARCA) atmospheric range GeV–1 (ORCA). expected maximum rate 200 Mbps per module. implemented matches layouts networks electro-optical cables junction boxes deep sea. For efficient use fibres technology Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing applied. performance terms measured bit error rates, budget presented. next steps implementation also discussed.
