Knowledge and Behavior as Risk Factors for Intestinal Worm Contamination on Raw Vegetables Food Traders in Pakusari District Jember Regency

Intestinal parasites are one of the leading public health problems worldwide, with an incidence 24% worldwide and 45-65% in Indonesia. parasites, especially intestinal worms, or soil-transmitted helminths (STH), significantly contribute to gastrointestinal diseases worldwide. worm infections occur rural urban populations, people who have habit eating dirty hands, using unhygienic toilets, consuming contaminated food, water, soil. Fresh vegetables a means that support parasitic infections, for traders must be able prevent contamination fresh vegetables. Consumption raw can source infection, thereby increasing prevalence foodborne diseases. This type research is analytic observational cross-sectional study design. Samples form were taken from vegetable Pakusari District, Jember Regency then processed by sedimentation method observed microscope identify protozoa. Food safety knowledge was assessed questionnaire, behavior food researchers observation sheets. The bivariate analysis showed proper handwashing related worms (p<0,05). Other variables unrelated worms' presence. species found Hookworm.
