Land Cover Mapping and Ecological Risk Assessment in the Context of Recent Ecological Migration

In order to protect the ecological environment and solve poverty problem in western region, China has established an migration (EM) policy. This policy aims relocate populations from poverty-stricken areas with fragile environments, which inevitably leads changes land cover environment. The objective of this study was identify effects EM a typical region (Wuwei), including risk (ER). A change monitoring method implemented for 2010–2019 period six classes using random forest, is effective supervised machine learning method. patterns were analyzed by determining area applying use transition matrix, landscape model based on disturbance fragility used. Our results demonstrate that increase decrease cultivated land, unused construction can be divided into two stages (2010–2015 2015–2019). water perennial snow doubled during periods. major transitions between crop land. addition, ER value Qilian Mountain National Nature Reserve decreased because implementation area, indicating effectively improved. advantage proposed approach understanding impact regional so as provide guidance follow-up planning development.
