Landslide Displacement Prediction With Gated Recurrent Unit and Spatial-Temporal Correlation

Landslides are geohazards of major concern that can cause casualties and property damage. Short-term landslide displacement prediction is one the most critical challenging tasks in deformation analysis, beneficial for future hazard mitigation. In this research, a novel short-term approach using spatial-temporal correlation gated recurrent unit (GRU) proposed. The proposed unified framework integrates time-series instant displacements collected from multiple monitoring points on failing slope. First, matrix, including pairwise Pearson’s coefficients, was studied based temporal data. Then, extracted spatial features were integrated into model GRU. This combines both simultaneously provides enhanced performance. last step, comparative analysis against other benchmark algorithms performed two case studies conventional modeling approach. computational results show performs best terms performance evaluation metrics.
