Latent toxoplasmosis and vitamin D concentration in humans: three observational studies

چکیده
Numerous recent studies show that vitamin D deficiency potentiates various chronic physical and psychiatric disorders diseases. It has been shown a similar range of is also associated with latent infection Toxoplasma gondii (Nicolle et Manceaux, 1908). For instance, among cancer, diabetes schizophrenia patients, we find higher prevalence both toxoplasmosis deficiency. Theoretically, therefore, could be the missing link between these disorders. We tested this hypothesis by searching for decreased levels in serum subjects infected T. (furthermore called Toxoplasma-infected subjects) two cross-sectional one case-control study. Results first study (N = 72) suggest neurasthenic patients have non-significantly lower calcidiol than Toxoplasma-free (study A: P 0.26 women, 0.68 men). However, other B: N 400; C: 191) showed concentration men 0.70, 0.55) women 0.64, 0.12). Taken together, our preliminary results thus do not support decrease.

Potential immunomodulatory effects of latent toxoplasmosis in humans
BACKGROUND About 30% of the population worldwide are infected with the protozoan parasite Toxoplasma gondii. Latent toxoplasmosis has many specific behavioral and physiological effects on the human organism. Modified reactivity of the immune system has been suggested to play a key role in many of these effects. For example, the immunosuppression hypothesis explains the higher probability of the...
متن کاملSex-dependent toxoplasmosis-associated differences in testosterone concentration in humans.
Several lines of indirect evidence suggest that subjects with latent infection of the coccidian parasite Toxoplasma gondii have a higher concentration of testosterone than uninfected controls. Here, we searched for direct evidence of latent toxoplasmosis-associated differences in testosterone concentration among a population of 174 female and 91 male students screened for Toxoplasma infection. ...
