Learning to diagnose collaboratively – Effects of adaptive collaboration scripts in agent-based medical simulations

چکیده

We investigated how medical students' collaborative diagnostic reasoning, particularly evidence elicitation and sharing, can be facilitated effectively using agent-based simulations. Providing adaptive collaboration scripts has been suggested to increase effectiveness, but existing is diverse could affected by unsystematic group constellations. Collaboration have criticized for undermining learners' agency. investigate the effect of static on reasoning basic psychological needs. randomly allocated 160 students one three groups: adaptive, static, or no script. found that learning with enhanced sharing performance transfer performance. Scripting did not affect learners’ perceived autonomy social relatedness. Yet, compared scripts, had positive effects competence. conclude complex skills complementing simulations seems beneficial help learners internalize without negatively affecting

Adaptive agent abstractions to speed up spatial agent-based simulations

Simulating fine-grained agent-based models requires extensive computational resources. In this article, we present an approach that reduces the number of agents by adaptively abstracting groups of spatial agents into meta-agents that subsume individual behaviours and physical forms. Particularly, groups of agents that have been clustering together for a sufficiently long period of time are dete...

An Adaptive Agent Model for the Emergence of Recurring Dream Scripts Based on Hebbian Learning

In this paper an adaptive agent model is presented that models how recurrent dreams such as nightmares occur. The approach addresses dreaming as internal simulation incorporating memory elements in the form of sensory representations and their associated emotions. In the agent model recurring dreams emerge as scripts of connected dream episodes in which the connections between the episodes stre...

a frame semantic approach to the study of translating cultural scripts in salingers franny and zooey

the frame semantic theory is a nascent approach in the area of translation studies which goes beyond the linguistic barriers and helps us to incorporate cognitive and cultural factors to the study of translation. based on rojos analytical model (2002b), which centered in the frames or knowledge structures activated in the text, the present research explores the various translation problems that...

Adaptive Agent-Based Simulations of Global Trade

To examine the strategies of nations participating in the global economy, an agent-based mathematical model was developed and implemented as a parallel algorithm using communicating processes. Each process represents a nation and contains five sub-processes which model the negotiations between nations. Based on Ricardian comparative advantage theory, a series of equations were derived determini...

Collaboration Scripts

This article presents a conceptual analysis of collaboration scripts used in face-to-face and computer-mediated collaborative learning. Collaboration scripts are scaffolds that aim to improve collaboration through structuring the interactive processes between two or more learning partners. Collaboration scripts consist of at least five components: (a) learning objectives, (b) type of activities...
