Lévy-type solutions for the buckling analysis of unsymmetrically laminated plates with rotational restraints for various plate theories

Abstract The stability behaviour of unsymmetrical laminated structures made fibre-reinforced plastics is significantly influenced by bending–extension coupling and the comparatively low transverse shear stiffnesses. aim this work to improve analytical analysis unsymmetrically structures. With discrete plate theory, can be reduced single plates. structure divided into individual segments, surrounding modelled rotational elastic restraints. governing equations for plates under specific boundary conditions solved exactly with Lévy-type solutions. In study, solutions mentioned biaxial compressive load described classical first-order deformation theory third-order (TSDT). addition shear, couplings cross-ply antisymmetrical angle-ply laminates are considered. For implementation restraints in context TSDT, a new set formulated. investigation shows very good agreement buckling comparative finite element analyses different layups.
