Linear Model of a Turboshaft Aero-Engine Including Components Degradation for Control-Oriented Applications

The engine fuel control system plays a crucial role in performance and economy. Fuel control, traditional systems, is carried out by means of sensor-based methods, which correct the flow rate through correlations or scheduled parameters order to reduce error between measured parameter its desired value. In presence component degradation, however, relationship measurable may lead an increase error. this research, linear models for advanced systems direct components degradation are proposed, with main objective being directly predict consumption instead adopting parameters. Two techniques were adopted model linearization: Small Perturbation System Identification. Results showed that both characterized high accuracy predicting output variables, mean errors prediction data below 1%. maximum errors, recorded shaft power, about 6% lower than 3% A simple correlation was also demonstrated; particular, achieved results allow one conclude approach best candidate controller development when included.
