چکیده

In this paper, the linear stability of sand waves sheared by a turbulent flow is analyzed. The velocity distribution in streamwise direction considered to follow logarithmic law. modified pressure owing streamline curvature induced employed formulation. derived using Boussinesq approximation for variation over depth. model coupled with sediment transport study waves. Both modes as bedload and suspended load are considered. analysis reveals favorable region formation dunes antidunes on plane formed Froude number dimensionless wavenumber. instability increases an increase particle parameter, while it decreases relative roughness. that form beyond limiting corresponding threshold Shields number. theoretical results compare well available experimental data.

Linear stability of scroll waves.

A full linear stability of a straight scroll wave in an excitable medium is presented. The five eigenmode branches which correspond to deformation in the third dimension of the five main modes of two-dimensional (2D) spiral dynamics are found to play a dominant role. For untwisted scroll waves, modulations in the third dimension have stabilizing or destabilizing effects on the different modes d...

Sheared-flow induced confinement transition in a linear magnetized plasma

A magnetized plasma cylinder (12 cm in diameter) is induced by an annular shape obstacle at the Large Plasma Device [W. Gekelman, H. Pfister, Z. Lucky, J. Bamber, D. Leneman, and J. Maggs, Rev. Sci. Instrum. 62, 2875 (1991)]. Sheared azimuthal flow is driven at the edge of the plasma cylinder through edge biasing. Strong fluctuations of density and potential (dn=n ed/=kTe 0:5) are observed at t...

Nonlocal dynamo waves in a turbulent shear flow

Abstract. The turbulent dynamo action in a shear flow is considered by making use of a quasilinear approximation and neglecting the back-reaction of a generated magnetic field on turbulence. The shear can stretch turbulent magnetic field lines in such a way that turbulent motions may become suitable for the generation of a large-scale magnetic field even in the absence of any stratification. Th...

Computation of Flow, Turbulence and Bed Evolution with Sand Waves

A vertical two-dimensional morphodynamic model with non-hydrostatic, free surface flow is reported herein. This numerical model can simulate flow and turbulence characteristics over sand waves. Likewise, model can reproduce the sand wave formation and migration process as well as free surface oscillation simultaneously in a moving boundary domain with the implication of a generalized coordinate...
