چکیده
ABSTRACT Spectropolarimetric data allow for simultaneous monitoring of stellar chromospheric $\log {R^{\prime }_{\rm {HK}}}$ activity and the surface-averaged longitudinal magnetic field, Bl, giving opportunity to probe relationship between large-scale fields manifestations magnetism. We present and/or Bl measurements 954 mid-F mid-M stars derived from spectropolarimetric observations contained within PolarBase database. Our magnetically active sample complements previous surveys that focus on inactive planet-search targets. find a positive correlation mean log |Bl|, but G may undergo change {HK}}}\sim -4.4$ −4.8. Nonaxisymmetric magnetic field generation in rapidly rotating late-type stars
Abstract. Recently the discovery of the “flip-flop” phenomenon, by which a predominant “active” longitude jumps by about 180◦, on several rapidly rotating late-type stars has directed attention to the issues surrounding the presence of large-scale nonaxisymmetric magnetic fields in these objects. Here we study nonlinear mean field dynamo models with quasi-cylindrical rotation laws, acting in sp...
متن کاملEffect of chromospheric activity on the mean colours of late-type stars
In this paper we show, for the first time, the effect of activity on the (U–B)0 vs. (B–V )0 colour-colour diagram for a large sample of late type stars. We clearly see that for singlelined spectroscopic RSCVn systems there exists an ultraviolet excess over that recorded for quiescent stars of the same spectral type. The same effect is seen in main-sequence stars but to a lesser extent. From sim...
متن کاملThe Chandra Deep Field-North Survey: XVII. Evolution of magnetic activity in old late-type stars
The extremely sensitive Chandra Deep Field-North (CDF-N) pencil-beam X-ray survey is used to identify and characterize the X-ray emission from old high-latitude main sequence Galactic stars. Our principal goal is to investigate the expected long-term decay of magnetic activity of late-type stars due to the gradual spindown of stellar rotation from a magnetized stellar wind. Thirteen X-ray sourc...
متن کاملLimits to Mass Outflows from Late-type Dwarf Stars
We show that the mass-loss rates of active late-type dwarf stars must be significantly lower than recent estimates of up to 15 3 10 MJ yr, 4 orders of magnitude higher than that of the Sun. First, we present aperture-synthesis observations at 3.5 mm of the dMe flare stars YZ CMi and AD Leo, during which neither star was detected at an upper limit of 10 mJy. Although compatible with the tentativ...
متن کاملPhotospheric magnetic field and chromospheric emission
We present a statistical analysis of network and internetwork properties in the photosphere and the chromosphere. For the first time we simultaneously observed (a) the four Stokes parameters of the photospheric iron line pair at 630.2 nm and (b) the intensity profile of the Ca H line at 396.8 nm. The vector magnetic field was inferred from the inversion of the iron lines. We aim at an understan...
