Selective Oxidation of Cyclohexane to Cyclohexanone
Cyclohexane oxidation is an important commercial reaction for the preparation of cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone, which are intermediates in the production of adipic acid and caprolactam respectively. These intermediates are important in the manufacture of nylon-6 and nylon-6,6 polymers (Yuan et al 2006 and Shylesh et al 2007). In addition, cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone are also used as solvent...
متن کاملProbing the Catalytic Activity of Tin-Platinum Decorated Graphene; Liquid Phase Oxidation of Cyclohexane
Pt-Sn supported on reduced graphene oxide (Pt-Sn/rGO) was synthesized and characterized by SEM, EDX, and XRD. The catalytic activity of Pt-Sn/rGO was tested for the solvent free liquid phase oxidation of cyclohexane to a mixture of cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone, also called KA oil, under mild reaction conditions. The products were analyzed gravimetrically, by UV spectrophotometer, and GC equip...
متن کاملVisible light-induced selective oxidation of cyclohexane to cyclohexanone on Cr-Si binary oxide with molecular oxygen.
Cr-Si binary oxide prepared by a sol-gel method, when activated by visible light, catalyses highly selective oxidation of cyclohexane to cyclohexanone with molecular oxygen.
متن کاملSetting Cyclohexane Stereochemistry with Oxidation
Thanks to its atomand step-economy, C–H bond oxidation represents a “hot topic” in synthetic chemistry. However, due to the ubiquity of such bonds in organic molecules, regioand enantioselective C–H bond oxidation turns out to be extremely challenging, and efficient direct methods are in high demand. Compared to the success of aliphatic sp C–H oxidation by enzymes (such as cytochrome P450, Figu...
متن کاملSelective oxidation of cyclohexanol to cyclohexanone in the ionic liquid 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride.
Ionic liquid (IL) 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride was found to effectively intensify cyclohexanol oxidation and resulted in 100% conversion of cyclohexanol with 100% selectivity to cyclohexanone using hydrogen peroxide as an oxidant and WO(3) as a catalyst. The effect of the IL as a solvent is discussed with the support of COSMO-RS theory.
