چکیده

The design and management of infrastructure is a significant challenge for traffic engineers planners. Accurate characterization necessary effective utilization. Thus, models are required that can characterize variety conditions be employed homogeneous, heterogeneous, equilibrium non-equilibrium traffic. Lighthill-Whitham-Richards (LWR) model widely used because its simplicity. This characterizes behavior with small changes over long idealized road so inadequate typical conditions. extended LWR considers driver types based on velocity to in non lane discipline but it ignores the stimuli velocity. In this paper, an improved presented which reaction forward stimuli. occurs distance headway during aligns current performance proposed, evaluated using first order upwind scheme (FOUS). numerical stability guaranteed by employing Courant, Friedrich Lewy (CFL) condition. Results show proposed both large more realistically. Doi: 10.28991/cej-2021-03091632 Full Text: PDF

A Multiphase Model for Macroscopic Traffic Flow

The main differences between the deterministic macroscopic models stand in pressure expressions and representation of various phases observed experimentally. Starting from two assumptions, we build a multiphase model that represents macroscopic traffic flow on a single road. The conditions for transition between phases become clear. In addition, a simulation of some scenario are proposed to sup...

Traffic Flow Analysis Based on Queuing Models

One of the most important issues in the plant layout design especially in mass production organizations with high inter-plant logistics is‘material flow and inter-plant traffic analysis and its effects on the production capabilities or pauses in production lines. In this paper the inter-plant traffic analysis issue on the basis of single channel queue model (M/M/1) is analyzed in a carmaker c...

Assessment of macroscopic models of Traffic Flow

The work discussed in this paper consists of a statistical assessment of various finite difference schemes for approximating macroscopic models of traffic flow. Using VISSIM we simulated traffic flow on a section of a freeway with arbitrary characteristics. VISSIM is a traffic flow simulator that uses a microscopic model for traffic. By using data from a microscopic simulation, we are able dete...

Macroscopic Traffic Flow Control via State Estimation

The studies presented in this paper deal with traffic control in case of missing data and/or when the loop detectors are faulty. We show that the traffic state estimation plays an important role in traffic prediction and control. Two approaches are presented for the estimation of the main traffic variables (traffic density and mean speed). The state constructors obtained are then used for traff...

Clusters in Macroscopic Traffic Flow Models

This paper concerns the traveling wave formation in macroscopic traffic flow models. The dynamics involved in this problem is described following a close analogy to compressible fluid dynamics. It is well known that vehicle clusters appear along a highway when the homogenous steady state taken as a reference is linearly unstable. The cluster properties are determined in an approximate way in te...
