Making sense of web-based European Court of Justice institutional press releases: Context, structure and replicable genres

In a world in which major technological advances have considerably boosted the use of web as communication tool, analysis digital press releases to disseminate information on case-related activity judicial courts and project their social institutional identity far wide is useful understand an evolving continuum professional discursive practices (re-)shaped within media (public relations) strategies. Drawing from criteria genre categorizations (Swales, 2004; Bhatia, Askehave & Swales, 2001) along with computer-mediated texts (Yates Orlikowski, 1992; Nielsen, 2005; Caballero, 2008; Villanueva et al., Garzone, 2012) metapragmatic strategies (Jacobs, 1999) randomised corpus web-based European Court Justice releases, I first place sampled into context use, then look at generic structure used realise moves communicative purposes, both qualitative quantitative analyses data. Context underlying are mapped onto role function intertextuality interdiscursivity (Fairclough, 1992, 2003; Bhatia 2004, 2017) alongside recontextualization (Linell, 1998; Sarangi Brookers-Howell, 2006). The findings show that typifies rhetorical activities purposes release writers they come across wider audiences ongoing institutionalised communication, ways effectively replicates other forms discourses genres different levels organisational structure.
