Mallet hallux injury with extensor tendon rupture and avulsion fracture

چکیده
Mallet hallux injury typically occurs due to trauma from forced hyperflexion. The is commonly an avulsion fracture of the extensor hallucis longus tendon at distal end great toe, but can also rupture around its insertion into first phalanx. It rare for both types occur simultaneously. A mallet toe occurring in rarely reported, and there no established standard treatment method. Here, we present our therapeutic strategy a case traumatic phalanx hallux.

Rupture of the extensor pollicis longus tendon after Colles fracture.
During the period 1973-1986, 116 patients with rupture of the extensor pollicis longus tendon were operated upon. The lesions were categorised into three anatomical levels: proximal, intermediate and distal. Direct suture was performed for acute lesions; later reconstructive procedures were by means of tendon transfers or free tendon grafts.
متن کاملSoft tissue ‘mallet’ injury to the hallux
We describe a case of a delayed presentation of a traumatic soft tissue mallet injury to the distal phalanx of the hallux in a teenager. Reports of this rare injury are sparse and there is no consensus in their treatment. This injury was treated with open repair of the tendon using a Mitek suture anchor, and stabilization with a 1.2-mm K-wire and extension splinting for 8 weeks. Following this ...
متن کاملClosed extensor tendon rupture and distal radial fracture with use of a gymnast's wrist support.
We report a case of delayed closed rupture of the tendon of extensor indicis proprius in a skeletally immature individual. This occurred following a minor greenstick fracture during use of a gymnast's wrist-finger support. To our knowledge this unusual complication has not been described previously.

Mallet fingers with an avulsion fracture of the distal phalanx or rupture of the terminal tendon of the extensor mechanism is known as a common injury, while mallet thumb is very rare. In this paper, the case of a 19-year-old woman with a sprained left thumb sustained while playing basketball is presented. Plain radiographs and computed tomography revealed an avulsion fracture involving more th...

His right ankle was swollen, but no open wounds were observed. Radiography and CT of the right ankle revealed a medial malleolus ankle fracture (figure 1A,B). During his treatment with osteosynthesis...
