چکیده

The objective of this study was to compare the management outcomes endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and laparoscopic common bile duct exploration (LCBDE) for choledocholithiasis in Pakistan, based on a sample size 150 patients. A retrospective analysis conducted patients diagnosed with who underwent either ERCP (n=75) or LCBDE at tertiary care hospital Pakistan. Patient demographics, procedure-related variables, postoperative outcomes, complications were collected analyzed. Primary outcome measures included stone clearance rates, complications, length stay, cost-effectiveness. patients, 75 each group. rate significantly higher group (82.7%) compared (68.0%). However, had lower incidence (12.0%) than (24.0%). mean stay shorter (4.2 days) (6.1 days). Cost revealed that more cost-effective LCBDE. In managing choledocholithiasis, are effective treatment options demonstrated (82.7%), while terms cost-effectiveness, found be favorable.

Management of choledocholithiasis: comparison between laparoscopic common bile duct exploration and intraoperative endoscopic sphincterotomy.

AIM Choledocholithiasis is present in 5 to 10 percent of patients who have cholelithiasis. In the area of laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC), laparoscopic common bile duct exploration (LCBDE) and intraoperative endoscopic sphincterotomy (IOES) have been used to treat choledocholithiasis. The purpose of this study was to compare the clinical outcomes and hospital costs of LCBDE with IOES. METHO...

Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography versus laparoscopic exploration for common bile duct stones in post-cholecystectomy patients: a retrospective study

Background and Objective Common bile duct (CBD) stones are common in patients even after cholecystectomy. Besides endoscopic retrograde cholangiography (ERCP), laparoscopic common bile duct exploration (LCBDE) is also applied. This study aims to compare clinical indications, therapeutic benefits and complications for these two managements. Methods From October 2012 to February 2015, 1072 cons...

A rare case of hepatic subcapsular biloma after laparoscopic Cholecystectomy and subsequent endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography

Background: Biloma is a rare abnormal localized accumulation of bile out of biliary tree due to an injury that occurs usually postoperatively from an injured cystic or bile duct. While most bilomas collect in the subhepatic space, we describe a rare case of hepatic subcapsular biloma after laparoscopic cholecystectomy and ERCP which was done one week after surgery successfully treated by p...

Comparison of endoscopic sphincterotomy and laparoscopic exploration of the common bile duct.

BACKGROUND Laparoscopic exploration of the common bile duct is becoming more popular, although endoscopic sphincterotomy remains the usual treatment for bile duct stones. However, loss of the biliary sphincter causes permanent duodenobiliary reflux, and recurrent stone disease and biliary neoplasia may be a consequence. METHODS A systematic literature review was conducted to compare laparosco...

Bile duct injury after laparoscopic cholecystectomy: the value of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography.

This study describes the value of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in patients with bile duct injury after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Twelve consecutive patients were studied over a one year period. In all patients the biliary tree was visualised during ERCP. Four patients had complete bile duct obstruction, seven patients had a stricture (two with concomitant leakage), ...
