Management of Inadvertent Supra-Aortic Arterial Lesions During Central Venous Access Procedures: Report of Six Cases and Proposed Algorithm

A retrospective single-center review was performed from 2015 to 2020. Six patients were treated for accidental supra-aortic arterial cannulation during central venous catheter insertion. Three punctures due 12F vein catheters. Four had undergone diagnostic duplex ultrasound (DUS) and two computed tomography angiography (CTA). Surgical intervention with direct repair in four common carotid artery injuries, endovascular treatment stent graft deployment subclavian injuries.
